Utilizing drawing and painting, my work explores the role of identity in humanity, most specifically in the United States and Mexico. As someone that was born in Mexico and recently became a United States citizen, art has been an important tool to communicate the current issues unfolding my personal life and my nations.
Mexican and American cultures are very different, and I have found that there is a third culture in the borderlands: a culture of diversity, and a culture of more than one language. I incorporate this third culture into my work by getting inspired by American and Mexican artists, and using this cultural space as my subject matter directly or indirectly.
