My work is influenced by childhood nostalgia and sensations. I include stories, myths and fairytales in my pieces as references to this formative time. I am enthralled with the romanticism of myths, and the true tragedy of the legends described. In my pieces, I try to visually imitate the feeling of reading a mythological story as a parallel to the haziness one can experience while trying to recollect a childhood memory. I think of my pieces as purposely unfinished fragments. A piece is not finished by itself, but in the piece after it. The smokiness of chalk and graphite lends itself to the haziness I try to create as well as the feelings I try to invoke.
