I have long had an interest in geology, astronomy, and the intricacies of where both fields overlap. This work is part of a series that studies meteorites as well as rare metals that are more present in meteorites than in the Earth’s crust. These rare metals include platinum, palladium, and iridium which are all used for numerous commercial and industrial applications, but are also metals used in chemical solution to make alternative process photographic prints. The photograph is a constructed still-life composed of astronomical and manufactured items which functions as an artistic examination of scientific and functional objects. The objects are both rare and intrinsically expensive, but hold even more aesthetic and historical value.
