Family has always been important to me, both in life and within my work. When my grandmother passed away just before Christmas in 2018, my family image was changed in a way I was unprepared for. Since then, I have used my work to process the emotions that came with her passing. “GrandQuilter” is part of a series entitled 264, composed of images that feature my grandfather through directly, as well as indirect portraits of my grandmother through her belongings and workspace. The title of the series refers to the number of days since her passing when I began this work. My photographs show that though she is no longer physically with us, she is still part of the family and will continue to live on in memories.
